About Dr Loyiso Sobazile
Dr Sobazile worked as a locum physician at Shelly Beach Hospital where he is currently setting up his practice. Due to the ever increasing demand for pre-operative evaluation in the elderly population with comorbidities undergoing major surgical procedures, he has established a “Pre-Op” clinic. The focus is on cardiovascular and pulmonary optimisation to improve intra and post-operative morbidity and mortality.
Throughout his training, Dr Sobazile has been intimately involved in teaching medical students and interns, a number of evidence-based academic presentations and community outreach.
Education
Dr Sobazile recently qualified as a specialist physician from Wits University. His specialist training which spanned over 4 years, involved rotating between the major state and private hospitals in Gauteng including Baragwanath Hospital and Donald Gordon. He completed his Masters’ degree researching about the prevalence of cancer in IBD patients exposed to immunosuppressive drugs. Prior enrolling into the academic programme, he obtained a diploma in HIV management and a certificate in advanced cardiac life support. He prides himself as an advocate for Continued Medical Education (CME).
